I personally think that like the OS it self shouldn't take up 25% of your ram, just for keeping it on. I mean what the hell is the point?
I mean the requirements for Vista are too extreme for some regular people to actually afford.
I don't think you have to get like "Quad core" and "4gb RAM" Just so that you can run Vista smoothely while you run a game, that is just a waste.
Weasel don't call me a whore for giving out my oppinion. biggrin

start/run/msconfig/services(*hide all Microsoft Services)disable all/startup (*leave only nesesery programs, antivirus, xfire,)disable all/Apply/OK/Close/Restart

Thats my advice for all who uses vista, and for those ppl who have unlimited programs on your XP, PC, (Like me) use this one, and you will be fine, comuter ganna work faster !
Good Luck

Regards
Sam

LOL I'm debating on trying Vista (the only thing keeping me back is RAM but I have enough for the Basic Edition). Plus it indicates that I have no driver issues, except for my sound card

I'm thinking about backing up some of my stuff to my linux partition and trying the install, then If I don't like it, I'm gonna reinstall GamerXP 4. It's insane that it requires 15GB of space (I know of a slimmed down version though)

The one I tried was modified so it could run on 256 MB instead of 512 MB (supposedly to increase performance), plus it takes about a gig of space instead of the regular versions' 8-15 gigs (from what I've heard Vista takes up). I meet all the minumum requirements for Home Basic, but I still need more RAM

Doy.. RAM is always has to fit well with the CPU though. 2 cores at least 1 gig RAM for each core.. Runs better, 2x 512ram > 1x 1gb. 2x 1gb > 1x 2gb. Also if you have Quad core same goes here. at least 1 gig RAM for each core meaning 4gb and that's a bit of money.. I'm not sure I just read it somewhere I'm thinking that that is true though if you have it seprate for each core it runs for me so..
